About the
author...
Hal Wissel is Assistant Coach for the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA. Wissel
has also worked as an assistant and scout for the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee
Bucks, New Jersey Nets, and Dallas Mavericks.
Hal Wissel was a head basketball coach on the collegiate level for 24 years,
including 12 years at NCAA Division I schools. Wissel's greatest coaching
success came while he was at Florida Southern College, where he guided his
team to three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II Final Four and to
one NCAA Division II National Championship title in 1981.
Wissel received his doctorate in physical education from Springfield
[Massachusetts] College in 1970. Hal's coaching honors include being named
Coach & Athlete magazine's Eastern Coach of the Year in 1972, Sunshine
State Conference Coach of the Year in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982, and Division
II National Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches
in 1980.
In addition to coaching, Dr. Wissel is the founder and president of Basketball
World, Inc., an organization that conducts basketball camps and clinics and
produces instructional basketball books and videos. Recognized as one of
the world's best basketball clinicians, Wissel conducts his popular Shoot
It Better Mini Camps worldwide for players at all
levels.
